Affin Hwang Asset Management contributes to Seri Mengasih

-

KOTA KINABALU: Affin Hwang Asset Management Berhad (AHAM) yesterday handed over a contribution of RM22,000 to Seri Mengasih to help ease the centre’s operating cost.

AHAM managing director Teng Chee Wei said that they constantly carry out their corporate social responsibility to help the local community.

He added that Seri Mengasih was active in promoting the development of special children until they reached their full potential at the centre.

“As a charity body, the daily Seri Mengasih operation is surely dependent on support and contribution from the public,” he said.

For example, Seri Mengasih organised its Heroes Run last month, he said.

He added that AHAM will also be carrying out several of its CSR programmes throughout the year at several locations, namely Kuching, Kuala Lumpur, Kota KInabalu, Pulau Pinang and Johor Baru.

Meanwhile, Seri Mengasih executive director Monica Chua said that the centre spends about RM70,000 for its operation costs.

Monica said that the fees collected from parents whose kids were at the centre was about RM25,000.

She added that the amount was not enough to cater for the centre’s operation cost hence other initiatives had to be taken to raise the funds.

She also said that Seri Mengasih would move to its new location at Kingfisher Sulaman.

Its centre there is expected to be completed in 2019, she said.

She added that they were supposed to relocate by next year but had to be postponed due to the delay.

Seri Mengasih’s programme and services director, Jenny Tham said that the centre now has 43 staff to help in the training of its 90 trainees.

She said that they adopt psychology methods such as the ‘Dousa Hou” and ‘Kololo’ which were Japanese technologies to help educate children with autism.

Jenny added that they accept children as young as five years old up until 35 years old.
