Terengganu govt will offer 5,900 land lots

KUALA NERUS: The Terengganu government will advertise some 5,900 vacant land lots in the state for the construction of housing by qualified citizens next month.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said yesterday, priority is for applicants who never had land lots in the state and must meet conditions to be determined by the Land and Mines Office (PTG).

“Advertisements will be made at all PTG offices in all districts. This is among the state’s initiatives to help the people to apply for vacant land because many do not know about the location.

“It is also among the initiatives to overcome the 3P problem of income, housing and employment,” he told reporters after opening the meeting of Peninsular Malaysia Assistant Land Officers’ Union, Terengganu, here.

Ahmad Razif said selected applicants would be called for interview by PTG and those successful need to build their houses within three years or the land would be forfeited.

“This is to prevent landowners from selling the land to other parties as the land ownership can be transferred after 10 years.”

He added the Terengganu government had allocated RM64 million or RM2 million for each state constituency for the construction of housing under the hard core poor housing programme (PPRT). - Bernama
