Shuttlers who fail KPI can be dropped — BAM
KUALA LUMPUR: Shuttlers who failed to achieve the Key Performance Index (KPI) or produce consistent performances can be dropped said Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) President Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria.
Norza said under the new coaching system headed by Datuk Misbun Sidek, players who failed to achieve the KPI set for them would be dropped.
“I have already told the players that the new coaching system would either be the start or end of their careers in badminton. So the ˜shuttle is in their court. It is for the players to decide their destiny. We will set a KPI for each player.
“There are many players out there who are waiting to come into the BAM fold if the current batch failed to live up to expectations or carry out their duties well,” he told reporters after meeting the players and coaches at the Akademi Badminton Malaysia, here yesterday.
“We are providing the players all the facilities and expertise needed for training and to prepare for competitions. They have world class coaches as well as world class players like Chong Wei (Datuk Lee Chong Wei) to train with...so there is no excuse not to excel,” he said.
Meanwhile, Misbun who returned to the BAM fold after walking out in 2011, said he had no plans to revamp the training system drastically but rather monitor the training programme closely before making any changes if needed. - Bernama
