‘Princess Agents’ breaks record, draws huge 30 billion hits

-

BEIJING: Latest television drama ‘Princess Agents’ has been breaking records left and right since its world premiere on June 5, 2017.

According to CSM Media Research, ‘Princess Agents’ has exceeded three per cent in ratings, becoming the first non-holiday weekday television drama on Hunan TV to break past three. The previous drama to break a non-holiday ratings record was ‘The Journey of Flower’ in 2015.

As of July 17, ‘Princess Agents’ has reached 30 billion hits across all video sharing platforms, dethroning the criticallyacclaimed political thriller ‘In the Name of People’ as the second most-watched television drama online. Still sitting in first place is the fantasy romance ‘Eternal Love’, with 39 billion viewers.

However, it is expected that ‘Princess Agents’ would dethrone ‘Eternal Love’ soon, as ‘Princess Agents’ is also the first television drama in history to exceed 30 billion views during its original run.

Critics said they expect to feel a “roller coaster of emotions” after watching the previews of this week’s episodes. The shocking factor of ‘Princess Agents’ is believed to be one of the reasons why it has managed to attract so many loyal viewers.

Produced by Ciwen Media and Croton Media, the historical fiction drama, which is set during the Northern Wei dynasty, stars Zanilia Zhao, Lin Gengxin and Shawn Dou.

‘Princess Agents’ will air its final episode on Aug 1.
