Training program empowers 28 Sabahan JCI leaders
KOTA KINABALU: Junior Chamber International (JCI) Tanjung Aru organized the A.C.E. Academy on July 21 to 23 at Kasih Sayang Health Resort in Manggatal.
This Leadership Academy was jointly organized by JCI Tanjung Aru, JCI Luyang and JCI Moyog.
Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Pang Yuk Ming was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.
The three-day, two-night leadership training provided development opportunities for local young leaders to learn and equip themselves with the most essential leadership values and skills in JCI.
Twenty-eight participants from JCI Local Organizations (LO) from Sabah and Sarawak attended this academy. Two international trainers, namely JCI Senator Dr Roberto Noronha from Macau and JCI Senator Kenneth C. Kabingue from the Philippines, shared their valuable experience with the participants. Both were once JCI World Training Commission chairmen.
Participants were taught key leadership skills, including people management, goal setting, project planning and motivating people. They were empowered to be active citizens, identifying community problems and creating sustainable solutions.
In his opening speech, Pang spoke of his experience as a Past JCI Malaysia National Executive Vice President and how he formed JCI Merotai and brought positive impact to the citizens of Tawau. He encouraged the participants to do more to help the people of Sabah and to stay true to JCI Values.
The organizing committee members for the prgram were Organizing Chairperson Dr Jeremy Tong; Deputy Organizing Chairpersons Alexander Chin and Tommy Shew; Project Secretary Bryon Dean, Project Treasurer Terrence Chia; Program Manager Gary Tam; Sponsorship Director Kimberly Guah and Advisors President Lenny Yap and JCI Senator Paul Hen.
