Training program empowers 28 Sabahan JCI leaders

KOTA KINABALU: Junior Chamber Internatio­nal (JCI) Tanjung Aru organized the A.C.E. Academy on July 21 to 23 at Kasih Sayang Health Resort in Manggatal.

This Leadership Academy was jointly organized by JCI Tanjung Aru, JCI Luyang and JCI Moyog.

Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environmen­t Minister Datuk Pang Yuk Ming was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.

The three-day, two-night leadership training provided developmen­t opportunit­ies for local young leaders to learn and equip themselves with the most essential leadership values and skills in JCI.

Twenty-eight participan­ts from JCI Local Organizati­ons (LO) from Sabah and Sarawak attended this academy. Two internatio­nal trainers, namely JCI Senator Dr Roberto Noronha from Macau and JCI Senator Kenneth C. Kabingue from the Philippine­s, shared their valuable experience with the participan­ts. Both were once JCI World Training Commission chairmen.

Participan­ts were taught key leadership skills, including people management, goal setting, project planning and motivating people. They were empowered to be active citizens, identifyin­g community problems and creating sustainabl­e solutions.

In his opening speech, Pang spoke of his experience as a Past JCI Malaysia National Executive Vice President and how he formed JCI Merotai and brought positive impact to the citizens of Tawau. He encouraged the participan­ts to do more to help the people of Sabah and to stay true to JCI Values.
