LDP queries DAP’s principle for being in cahoots with Dr M

-

KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) chief publicity officer, Albert Kok has questioned Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sabah member of parliament for Sandakan, Stephen Wong, as to why DAP is still in partnership with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, to form Pakatan Harapan (PH) despite Wong having deemed that Sabah had lost numerous State's rights to the Federal government during Mahathir's tenure as prime minister.

“Now that DAP is willing to work with Mahathir, does it mean that the party agrees with what the former prime minister had done in the past?”

According to Kok, DAP had never stopped accusing Mahathir of corruption, abuse of power, or being responsible for ‘Project M' or ‘Project IC' in Sabah during his administration and up till 2015 after the latter has stepped down.

“Does DAP still stand by its allegations against Mahathir now?” Kok asked in a statement yesterday.

For the past few decades, Kok said DAP had depicted Mahathir as a corrupted figure, and Lim Kit Siang had even accused Mahathir of cronyism and favouritism. But once Mahathir joined the opposition, he was hailed as an angel, he added.

“The sharp contrast and contradiction shows that DAP is unprincipled. To DAP, anyone who is on their side are angels while the opposing political parties are devils,” he stated.

Kok went on to say that DAP had revealed its true colours from its history of working with PAS and now partnering up with its ex-nemesis, Mahathir.

“DAP has even shamelessly hailed Mahathir as the saviour of Malaysia now despite being at odds with the former prime minister in the past few decades.”

Kok also raised the question as to why DAP is not in the highest echelon of the coalition even though the party has the most MPs and despite Wong's claim that the four component parties were equal in PH. He said, even Kit Siang was dropped in the top leadership line-up of PH.

“Besides, if PH respects Sabah's rights, why isn't there a Sabahan in the 12 top leadership positions in the coalition? Even Chong Chieng Jen from Sarawak had made it to the highest echelon. Perhaps, Wong should resign from his post for failing in his duty,” he asserted.
