PIDM appoints Rahamat Bivi Yusoff as board chairman
KUALA LUMPUR: Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) has announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Dr Rahamat Bivi Yusoff as the chairman of its Board of Directors for a three-year term with effect from August 15, 2017.
Rahamat Bivi succeeds Tan Sri Datuk Dr Abdul Samad Alias, a long-serving chairman of the Board.
Rahamat Bivi served on the Board of PIDM from January 2012 to 2017, and is the former Director General of the Economic Planning Unit. Prior to that, she was the Deputy Secretary General of Treasury, Ministry of Finance, in charge of the Systems and Controls Division.
Rahamat Bivi holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Economics) (Honours) degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Master's degree in Economics from the Western Michigan University, US. She was conferred a PhD from the Australian National University, Australia.
Rahamat Bivi serves on the Boards of Malaysia Nuclear Power Corporation, Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd and Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority. She is also a member of the Research Advisory Council of Perbadanan Nasional Bhd.
“Effective planning and execution of a smooth leadership succession is vital for the continued success of the Corporation.
“Planning for Board succession and leadership transition has been a key area of focus for the Board over the years.
“I am delighted to hand over the Board leadership to Datuk Seri Dr Rahamat Bivi, who brings considerable expertise and global insights to the Board as we embark on our next phase of development,” Abdul Samad said.
Rahamat Bivi said, “The Board would like to thank Tan Sri Datuk Dr Abdul Samad Haji Alias for his invaluable wisdom, insights and contributions.
“He is known for his integrity and passion for governance and has ensured a strong and effective Board under his able leadership. We wish him the best in his future endeavours”.
