Cops probing fight between two groups of students in Inanam

-

KOTA KINABALU: Police have urged anyone with information on a fight involving two groups of students on Wednesday to come forward to assist them in their investigation.

City police chief ACP M. Chandra said a 51-second video clip which has gone viral on Facebook shows the fight that allegedly took place at a playground at Taman Bayumas around 1pm on August 9.

The two groups of students were from the same school, he said.

“When the video clip went viral on Facebook, the school’s discipline teacher came to lodge a police report at the Inanam police station.

“The teacher also claimed that the fight was a continuation of an earlier fight that took place at the same venue a day earlier, on August 8.

“The fight is believed aimed at showing who among the two groups are better or stronger,” Chandra said, adding that the school management have identified three of the students involved, two Form Four students and one Form Three student.

“We are taking this matter seriously and we will carry out investigation.

“Police would also like to remind students not to get involved in any gang fights as police will not hesitate to make an arrest,” said Chandra, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
