Community college graduates highly marketable
KENINGAU: Graduates from community colleges have the highest level of job marketability in Malaysia, at 97.2 per cent, according to Ministry of Energy Green Technology and Water political secretary Datuk Daniel Kinsik.
He said this was based on sources from the Ministry of Higher Education Graduation Scheme, last year.
“Community Colleges have produced many graduates who are entrepreneurs in the various fields,” he said when officiating at the Sabah UPU Roadshow, ‘Jom Masuk IPT’ at a community hall here, yesterday.
He said this included fashion, nutrition industry, automotive, construction and landscape, agrotechnology and aquaculture, information technology, services and retail, spa, beauty and hairdressing, to name some.
More than 1,000 Form Four, Form Five and pre-university students from SMK Keningau, SMK Keningau II, SMK Bingkor, SMK Gunsanad, SMK Sook, SM Ken Hwa, SMK Apin-Apin, SMK Gunsanad II, SM St Francis Xavier, SMK Tulid, SMK Agama Keningau and Keningau Vocational College attended the program.
He said the district level Sabah UPU Roadshow was a collaborative network between the Student Entry Management Division (UPU) of the Higher Education Department, the Ministry of Higher Education and the State Education Department.
Daniel, representing Deputy Chief Minister and Infrastructure Development Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, said the program was based on the main objective of providing greater exposure and explanation on admission policies, admission requirements, application methods and intake for SPM and STPM students.
Daniel hopes that such a program will be held next year to provide opportunities and help rural students to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Also present at the program were the Ministry of Higher Education Student Admissions Management Division representative Rahaidah Abdul Rahim, District Education representative Jaulis Masulim, government officials, school principals, teachers and community leaders.
