Six contest finalists get cash to kick start final kiosk structure

KOTA KINABALU: Each of the finalists in the Kiosk Design Contest has received an incentive amounting to RM2,000 to kick start their final kiosk structure.

Partubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) Sabah Chapter in a statement yesterday, said six out of 18 entries were shortliste­d to become the finalists, namely JWA Design & Build Sdn Bhd, OMAgawd, Eco Arch, KTDA, 4+1 (ATY) and UCSF FACM.

The six finalists will be developing further their respective conceptual model into a live scale 1:1 Kiosk structure for the grand finale submission on October 7, this year.

“The six finalists got the chance to take away a total sum of RM18,750.00 cash prize, special thanks to the Kiosk Design Contest’s’smain sponsor Sinaland Sdn. Bhd,” said the statement.

The contest was organised in conjunctio­n with the Borneo Architecur­al Festival - BAF 2017.

It had attracted 18 entries and was participat­ed by a group of people from various background­s and age - ranging from as young as 13 years old secondary school student, college/university student up to working adults.

PAM Sabah Chapter said apart from the six outstandin­g finalists, three groups, namely PANDA, HID TEAM and CREATURES had also captured the heart of the judges for their outstandin­g effort in producing a detailed, workable scale model.

Overall, all the groups had demonstrat­ed a remarkable work and had set a high benchmark for future contest.

“On behalf of PAM Sabah Chapter, the Organizing Committee hope that all the participan­ts have gained a great experience and enjoyed the designing process, and further encourage the participan­ts who did not make it in this contest will not stop in their journey into creativity.”

The contest was organized by Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) Sabah Chapter in collaborat­ion with Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) and supported by Young Engineers Section.

The Organizing Chairman, Ezekiel Lee thanked all who had been involved to make the contest a success and Suria Sabah Management for providing them the venue and facilities.
