Malaysia to host Education Week at Expo
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will host its Education Week at Expo 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan, to promote the country as the best higher education hub, as well as exchange knowledge and skills between Malaysian and Kazakh universities at international level.
Led by the higher education ministry from Aug 14-18, the Education Week is part of the weekly-themed business programme at the Malaysia Pavilion that showcases its leadership in promoting green energy, aside from other key sectors of the economy.
In a statement, the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia) said a delegation of 50 lecturers and students from Malaysia would showcase their education programmes in green technology and participate in talks and forums on the sustainable initiatives and green energy projects they had developed.
According to the statement, the lecturers and students from Malaysian universities will engage with representatives from Kazakhstan, including one of Kazakh’s top private universities, Nazarbayev University, for knowledge exchange on the education system and implementation of green initiatives.
“There are currently more than 1,000 Kazakhs studying at higher learning institutions in Malaysia with a total of over 7,000 Kazakh students having studied in the country between 2013 and 2017.
“Through Education Week, Malaysia aims to increase this number and contribute to its target of 200,000 international students enrolled in education institutions in the country by 2020,” it said.
