Designing a bright career at First City UC

-

SINCE the completion of the new Phase II building which is located adjacently to the existing premise early this year, First City University College is now offering more facilities and amenities its students can fully enjoy.

Exciting things are happening especially in the Faculty of Design & Built Environment, now operating in the new academic block. In addition to the spacious lecture rooms, students work on their design projects in state-of-the-art studio equipped with equipment such as 3D Printers, Laser Cutter and Vacuum Forming Machine.

To boost students’ motivation and confidence, the faculty puts their artworks and projects on display at the new White Canvas Gallery, while students’ handmade projects are put on public sale at the Creative Stove.

For students with a flair for design, the faculty – well known for its outstanding design programmes and experience in running franchised courses since the past 20 years – continues to offer programmes in Graphic Design, Interior Architecture and Design and Furniture and Product Design.

Starting from August 2017, bachelor degree programmes for the three most popular disciplines in the faculty are offered in collaboration with a new partner university, the Manchester Metropolitan University (ManchesterMet).

The university – one of the largest and most popular in the United Kingdom – is placed amongst the global top 3 per cent of institutions and ranked in the world’s top 150 universities under 50 years old (Data from Times Higher Education 2015-2016). First City UC’s academic partnership with Manchester Me t’ s School of Art which is considered the second oldest design school in Britain strengthens the quality of the programmes as it aims to nurture students with essential skills and knowledge for their chosen career.

Graduates of the dual award programmes will receive degree certificates from both First City UC and ManchesterMet when they graduate, providing them with double recognition of their tertiary education success.

Students are welcome to visit the campus during our next Open Day on 12, 13, 19 and 20 Aug from 10am to 6pm.

Registration is open for the August intake for the above programmes and various others at Diploma and Degree levels in September.

Visitors will be able to check out First City UC’s new facilities and meet our academic staff to get in-depth information about our programmes, and enquire about scholarships, incentives and up to 50 per cent Early Bird discount, applicable for registrations made by 14 Aug 2017.
