Sandakan water villagers receive land lease extension

SANDAKAN: Kampung Pukat folks who received their land lease extension offer were thankful to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman for his concern for the wellbeing of residents of the water village.

The 19 house owners who received the lease extension offer from the State Land and Survey Department under phase one included three families from Jambatan 1 who lost their homes in a fire three years ago.

Representa­tives of 12 families were present to receive the documents from Batu Sapi Member of Parliament Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin at the Sandakan Fishing (Tongkang) Associatio­n premises here yesterday.

The recipients of the lease extension offer are required to pay the premium before August 30. The seven families who were not present, would receive theirs from Linda during her upcoming ‘turun padang’ visit to her constituen­cy on Friday.

Head Liaison Officer of Batu Sapi MP Office, Kong Nyuk Thou, reminded the remaining seven owners who have yet to receive the documents - Leong Su Ha @ James Pulla Leong, Ho Kin Hoon, Wong Koon Sheng, Ng Kwan Khiaw, Wong Koon Fook, Ho Ah Wing, and Ho King Po to come to the Sandakan Fishing (Tongkang) Associatio­n premises this Friday.

Meanwhile Sandakan Fishing (Tongkang) Associatio­n chairman Lee Siew Kuan who spoke on behalf of the house owners, expressed their gratitude to Musa.

“Our Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman is a leader who always has the people at heart,” Lee added.

He also thanked Linda for her relentless efforts in helping Kampung Pukat residents to resolve the matter.
