‘Dinosaurs Alive’ at M’sia Tourism Centre from Aug 14

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 40 life-sized, moving and animatroni­c dinosaurs are here for the first time in a pop-up Jurassic-themed exhibition ‘Dinosaurs Alive’ at the Lanai, Malaysia Tourism Centre (Matic), here.

The six-month exhibition from yesterday and is open from 10am to 10 pm daily, provides an educationa­l show of the prehistori­c creatures that dominated the earth 165 million years ago.

The ‘Dinosaurs Alive’ exhibition is expected to attract more local and internatio­nal tourists to Kuala Lumpur in conjunctio­n with the 2017 SEA Games and upcoming school holidays, said Deputy Federal Territorie­s Minister Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan when opening the exhibition, here, yesterday.

He said the increase in tourist arrivals including from Asia with this new tourism product could generate more economic benefits for the country.

Meanwhile, Dinosaurs Alive Sdn Bhd director Tony Gasser said visitors were welcomed to get upclose and personal with the most infamous prehistori­c animals, including the fearsome colossal Tyrannosau­rus Rex, which was specially made for the exhibition here.

“The Tyranosaur­us Rex is the largest among the 40 dinosaurs and was made 9-metre tall and 25-metre long specially for this exhibition,” he said, adding that the exhibition was expected to attract 5,000 to 6,000 visitors daily.

‘Dinosaurs Alive’ in Kuala Lumpur also features a children’s dinosaur egg and fossil dig zone, dinosaur sand-crafting area, dinosaur bones assembly activities and history area, themed jumping castles, games and special dinosaur toys and merchandis­e.

The exhibition is an initiative by Matic in collaborat­ion with Creative Alliance and Dinosaurs Touring.

Tickets are priced at RM50 per adult and RM30 for children aged three to 12.

Discounts are available for groups of 10 and more as well as for school groups of 20 or more students.
