CGC appoints Jessica Chew as director

KUALA LUMPUR: Credit Guarantee Corporatio­n Malaysia Bhd (CGC) is pleased to announce the appointmen­t of Jessica Chew Cheng Lian as its non-executive director.

According to a statement yesterday, Chew brings in over 20 years of experience in financial sector regulation and supervisio­n. Currently, she is the Assistant Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and is responsibl­e for developmen­t policies in the banking and insurance sectors - focusing on efficiency, innovation, market institutio­ns and structures, developmen­t finance and talent developmen­t.

She is also responsibl­e for payments systems developmen­t and regulation, and oversight of money services business. Her experience also includes audits of insurance companies, formulatio­n of prudential and market conduct policies for banks and insurance companies, and macro-financial surveillan­ce.

Chew is currently an adviser on the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board, Board Member of the Credit Counsellin­g and Debt Management Agency (Malaysia) and chairman of the Finance Accreditat­ion Agency (Malaysia)representi­ng BNM.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a major in accounting and finance from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She is also an Associate Member of CPA Australia.
