Silentmode gets RM2.5 mln funding to accelerate mobile POS system growth

KUALA LUMPUR: Silentmode Sdn Bhd, the developer of Slurp! cloudbased point-of-sale system (POS) that specialise­s in food and beverage (F&B) industry, has secured a Series A round of funding worth RM2.5 million.

In a statement yesterday, Silentmode said the funding was obtained from Axiata Digital Innovation Fund (ADIF) and would be managed by a local venture capital firm, Intres Capital Partners Sdn Bhd.

“Slurp! plans to use the funding to accelerate product sales and marketing, grow its current team as well as explore regional markets for potential expansion in 2018,” it said.

Silentmode chief executive officer and Slurp! co-founder, Reza Razali said as the firm moved forward, it was crucial to have a strong support system, citing its confidence in ADIF’s and Intres Capital’s capabiliti­es.

Reza said as part of the growth plan, Slurp! has appointed former Head of GrabCar, Malaysia, Shi-Ying Lau, as its Director of Strategy and Partnershi­p.

She would bring in over eight years of global experience in consulting and technology to Slurp!, he said.

“With her former track record in building GrabCar, Malaysia, from the ground up until it became a very sizeable business, she will lead the local and regional expansion as well as partnershi­p for Slurp! to the next level,” he said. — Bernama
