China dancers, musicians entertain Sandakan folks

-

SANDAKAN: The people of Elopura here were entertained by a team of dancers and musicians from China in conjunction with the Merdeka Day celebration organised by the Young Malaysian Movement (YMM) Sandakan held at the Kim Fung night market here on Saturday.

Elopura assemblyman Datuk Au Kam Wah said that the performers from China came for the belt and road initiative for cultural and arts exchange.

All 15 performers took the opportunity during the Merdeka celebration to show the colourful culture and music of China through traditional dance performances and GuZheng performance.

“I am very proud to show to the people of China how the people of Sandakan of different races and religions could come together to celebrate Merdeka. We always receive good response from the locals whenever we organise a programme.

“Next week, Sandakan will have a food festival and hopefully that will bring the attention of tourists to Sandakan,” Au said.

Meanwhile, when commenting on Parti Gerakan in Elopura, Au said that there will not be any reason for the voters not to support Barisan Nasional as good and effective services were delivered to the people.

“What’s important is how we serve the people and make them see that choosing Parti Gerakan is the right choice. In Elopura, we are confident that the voters here are aware of the development that was brought to them,” added the Parti Gerakan elected representative.
