Tawau Toastmasters Club holds successful annual speech contest
TAWAU: The Tawau Toastmasters Club had a successful annual club level evaluation and humorous speech contest at its usual meeting venue at Ba Zhong Commercial Centre here recently.
Organizing chairperson Eleanor Martha Fabia said there were five contestants for the evaluation speech contest, and Roselind Gan was the first place winner with Annie Tsen Lip Ken taking second place and the thirrd place going to Liew Hon Min.
For the humorous speech contest, there were also five contestants, with Liew Hon Min winning the first place. The second place went to Muhammad Khuzaimy Yalah and Cynthy Ng Tsin Tze took the third place.
Around 40 guests attended the event along with members from Mandarin and Cowie Bay Toastmasters Club.
The champions of the contest will represent Tawau Toastmaster Club at Area K2 evaluation and humorous speech contests which will be held at Dewan SM St Patrick's, Tawau on September 3.
For this year, Tawau Toastmasters Club will be the joint host with Toastmasters Clubs from Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Tawau.
Members of the public are welcomed to witness the contest as there is no entry charge. The organizers hope that such event will apprise the public as to what Toastmasters is all about.
The club's president, Magdalind Gabriel, in her closing words, thanked everyone for the successful event and look forward to the upcoming area level contest.
