Head of State Corporate Charity Cup eyes 250 golfers

KOTA KINABALU: The Head of State Corporate Charity Cup organiser is targeting 250 participan­ts for the third edition of its golf tournament.

The team competitio­n will take place at thr Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club (SHMGCC) on October 14.

Yayasan Nur Jauhar chairman Haji Al Hambra Tun Juhar told reporters here yesterday that the Yayasan Nur Jauhar and Sutera Harbour Resort jointly organised tournament received 50 team entries last year.

Thr tournament will see a team of four golfers competing for top honour, where the three best scores will decide the team official marks based on 18-hole Nett Stroke Play.

There will be two tee-off times at 7.30am and 12.30pm via gun shot.

“To show appreciati­on to the main sponsors during the tournament, the course will be named Hap Seng and Teck Guan golf courses for the first and second nines respective­ly,” said Al Hambra.

According to him, the hole-inone prizes includes a Mercedes Benz vehicle courtesy of Hap Seng Star Sdn Bhd while the others are return flight tickets from Kota Kinabala to London for two from Malaysia Airlines Berhad and golf equipment sponsored by MST Golf.

“The tournament is held in conjunctio­n with the 64th birthday celebratio­n of Head of State Tun Dr. Juhar Mahiruddin who is also the patron of Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf and Country Club (SHMGCC) and Yayasan Tun Jauhar.

“There will also be a Gala Nite and prize presentati­on at the Grand Ballroom, The Magellan Sutera Resort starting 7pm,” he added.

He also said that the participan­ts, companies or organisati­ons can donate via the exclusive HSCCC Donation Package which is to play gold and attend the Gala Nite.

The packages offered are Platinum (above RM25,000) where the contributo­r can enter five golf teams and have five tables for the Gala Nite; Gold (above RM15,000) for three golf teams and three tables Gala Nite; Silver (above RM10,000) for two gold teams and two tables for Gala Nite and Bronze (above RM5,000) for one golf team and one table for the Gala Nite.

For those who are only attending the Gala Nite, they could get the Orchid Package worth RM2,000 for two tables.

“The programme last year raised around RM500,000 which was used to implement charity activities of the Yayasan in aid of the community.

“We thanked all for the assistance and hopefully we will be able to achieve or better our targeted funds from last year,” said Al Hambra who said they expect around 800 people for the Gala Nite.

The main sponsors for the programme this year are Hap Seng Consolidat­ed Berhad and Teck Guan Group while supported by Affin Hwang Asset Management Berhad.

Other sponsors are Sabah Engery Corporatio­n Sdn Bhd, Momawater Sdn Bhd, Sound Tech Production Sdn Bhd, Beyond Ultron Sdn Bhd and F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd as the sponsor of official drink 100Plus.

Also present yesterday were SHR deputy chief executive officer Gerard Tan, SHGCC general manager Rick Blackie as well as representa­tives from the corporate bodies and sponsors.
