KOTA KINABALU: MercedesBenz Malaysia has expanded its extensive SUV portfolio to further cater to the unique lifestyle and demands of its customers with the launch of a new GLC variant - the GLC 200.

Following the successful introduction of the premium SUV range last year, which includes the locally-assembled GLC 250 4MATIC, MercedesBenz presents a further variant to provide a wider variety for its customers to choose from.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s Sales and Marketing Passenger Cars vice president, Mark Raine said the introduction of Mercedes-Benz’s premium SUV range has established this segment to the luxury market.

“Our SUVs define new benchmarks, break conventions and provide our customers with their ultimate choice of vehicle for their unique and active lifestyle.

“As the locally-produced GLC is a crowd favourite, we are excited to bring the GLC 200 as an additional choice for those who desire an exclusive SUV,” he said at the launching ceremony at Hap Seng Star in Plaza Shell here yesterday.

The GLC 200 is equipped with the off-road exterior design which underscores the vehicle’s SUV characteristics with rugged design features in chrome. The radiator trim boasts an integral Mercedes star and two louvres in matt iridium silver with chrome inserts. Other select highlights include the 19-inch five-spoke light-alloy wheels, the chromeplated simulated underguard and the exhaust system with two visible, chrome-plated tailpipe trims and the anodized roof rails.

In addition, the light emitting diode (LED) High Performance headlamps provide more safety at night thanks to a broad light distribution, a flight colour similar to daylight and low energy consumption. The tail lights feature LED technology and create a visual highlight while improving visibility.

The GLC 200 is powered by a 2.0 litre four in-line engine, which provides an output of 135 kW (184 hp) and 300 Nm of torque. The nine-stage 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission also comes as standard on the GLC 200. Depending on the mode selected for the Dynamic Select dynamic handling control, the autonomic transmission with a torque converter boasts great agility and responsiveness. If offers an impressively high shift speed and perfect transitions for energetic sprinting as well as with gentle, barely perceptible gear changes for enjoyable cruising.

Its interior features Exclusive line, including upholstery in Artico man-made leather or fabric, Artico-covered dashboard with contrasting topstictching in three colours, seats featuring an exclusive upholstery layout, wood trim in high-gloss brown line structure lime and the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

Prices of the GLC 200 (CKD) and GLC 250 4MATIC (CKD) are RM 288,888 and RM 325,888 respectively, inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Mercedes-Benz Financial offers attractive financing for the SUV variants. Finance the new GLC 200 (CKD) at RM2,888 per month and for the GLC 250 4MATIC (CKD) at RM3,258 per month. The monthly instalments are calculated based on three years tenure under Agility Financing, 20,000 km mileage per annum with a down payment of 20.34 per cent.

On the other hand, MercedesBenz Malaysia also introduces its special edition luxury Sports Utility Coupe, the MercedesAMG GLE 43 OrangeArt Edition.
