Mohd Ikmal emerges champion of KuGCC Captain’s Golf Challenge

KOTA KINABALU: Mohd Ikmal Jasni was crowned the men’s Nett winner in the Keningau Golf and Country Club (KuGCC) Captain’s Golf Challenge Trophy 2016.

The talented 14-year-old carded a nett score of 68 for the victory via countback decision (OCB) after Wetheral Fung matched the score of the 2017 Sabah School Sports Council Under-15 champion.

Third place went to Bryan Abdullah who edged Mohd Amni Mat Sudin, also via OCB after both played 69 nett.

The fifth to seventh placing were also decided on OCB after the golfers, in order of Ian Chan, Hizzeq Tambakau and Mohd Ruzaini Hairol, posted identical scores of 70 nett.

Martin Sin Hing carded 73 nett to complete the top eight golfers in the category.

In the men’s Gross competitio­n, Duin Etin played 75 to top the standing by two-shot with Edmund Bainon settling for second place and Jainudin Narion in third with 79.

Sanali Masrun (81) finished fourth ahead of Daut Rugak (82), who claimed fifth place via OCB over sixth placed Jimmy Tsen (82).

The ladies’ Nett event saw DK Mariah Bujang and Angeline Saban top scored with 75 but after OCB, Mariah was the winner.

Chung Nyuk Mee with 77 nett and Liew Sew Moi with 79 settled for third and fourth place respective­ly.

As for the Senior category, Haspin Harris posted 71 nett to win the event while a further two-shot behind was Ricky Ng in second.

Juhilin Takun claimed the third place after OCB, edging Lim Soo On who also completed the tournament on 76 nett.

KuGCC Captain Wilson Tambakau presented the prizes to the winners.
