New China Consul General arrives in KK

KOTA KINABALU: Liang Caide, the new Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, arrived in Sabah yesterday.

Speaking upon his arrival at Kota Kinabalu Internatio­nal Airport (KKIA), Liang said it was his first time stepping onto the Land Below the Wind but he had heard much about the beautiful scenery, simple and honest people, as well as plentiful resources.

"I am very pleased and honoured to have the opportunit­y to work here, and I am looking forward to the forthcomin­g work."

He said China and Malaysia were good neighbours, friends and partners.

"The China-Malaysia relationsh­ip is currently at its best time in history and Sabah-Labuan is an important stop on the Maritime Silk Road.

"Coming to serve as the consul general here at this juncture, I feel both the glory of the mission and the responsibi­lity of the task," he said.

Liang said the consulate would continue to promote the friendship between China and Malaysia, as well as the cooperatio­n and exchanges in various areas between the two places.

"The consulate general will continue to serve as the boat of friendship, the bridge of cooperatio­n, the window of service, and the overseas home for Chinese citizens."

Liang is succeeding Chen Peijie, the first Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, who had served in Sabah from January 30, 2015 to July 9, 2017.
