My Heart, My Life Sabah 2017 cycling tour

KOTA KINABALU: The National Heart Institute (IJN) Foundation together with the National Heart Institute Cardiac Cycle (IJNCC) launched its state-wide charity cycling tour programme dubbed ‘My Heart, My Life Sabah 2017’, yesterday.

The corporate social responsibi­lity (CSR) initiative was launched in conjunctio­n with the Malaysia Day celebratio­n and the World Heart Awareness Month.

A team of over 40 cyclists, comprising doctors and IJN staff will cycle from September 13 to September 18, covering a total distance of 625 kilometres.

The flag-off was held at TNBC Motors Sdn Bhd headquarte­rs in Kota Kinabalu and they will be passing through Sipitang, Keningau, Kundasang and Kota Marudu, before returning to the state capital.

The objective of the tour is to promote a healthy lifestyle through cycling. It is understood that the IJN Foundation will also be visiting two less-fortunate heart patients ni Kinarut and Keningau.

On top of that, the tour will also provide free heart screenings and health talks at all the aforementi­oned districts.

Team captain Azran Ahmad added that in conjunctio­n with the Merdeka month, his team will be organizing a Malaysia Day celebratio­n ni Kundasang on September 16.

“On September 16, the IJN national chief executive will cycle with us from Keningau to Kundasang. He will also be joining us for the free heart screenings and health talks,” the IJN senior physiologi­st said.

Also present at the event yesterday were Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd regional sales manager Bernard Kee and TBNC Motor Sdn Bhd sales manager CK Wong.

“Mitsubishi is honoured to be given the opportunit­y to sponsor our cars to IJN in hopes that it will give awareness on IJN’s activities and its contributi­ons to the locals,” he said.
