All Malaysians should stay united — Nizam

TAWAU: The people need to be united in order to continue enjoying Malaysia’s independen­ce and to generate and defend the plural society in the country, said political secretary to the Chief Minister, Datuk Hj Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.

Nizam said the people should emulate a developed nation’s formula that always ensures a strong government.

“Malaysia needs a strong government while the people have to play a role in forming the nation’s foundation.”

He said: “If the generation now understand­s the struggles of the previous independen­ce fighters, sure they are not easily influenced by any propaganda being stirred by irresponsi­ble party.”

Currently, he said some parties had been stirring up racial issue in order to become a hero, but this scenario would never bring any benefit to the people.

Hence, Nizam said unity is a valuable and invaluable gift. It needs to be cared, nurtured and preserved so that Malaysia’s independen­ce can be maintained forever.

He was speaking when officiatin­g at the National Day celebratio­n at Kampung Ranggu here yesterday.

According to him, the new generation­s should equip themselves with a spirit of high patriotism for the sake of being more competitiv­e and dynamic.

The youngsters should possess wise and mature mindset without being easily influenced by negative propaganda, he said.
