“On behalf of the Sabah Badminton Association (SBA), we are extremely proud to have our Sabahans officiate during the Malaysia Junior Badminton Open in Perlis from September 5-9.

“Two international umpires level III are Noratikah Daud from Beaufortand Daniel Nicholas Yap from Kota Kinabalu. They performed extremely well and are looking forward to promotion to international umpire status.

“Vickneswaran N. Salapan from Kota Kinabalu was appointed as tournament deputy referee and has gleaned extensive experience in managing international championships.

“Sr. Anthony C. Linggian, currently the only BWFcertified referee in Malaysia, was appointed by Badminton Asia to assess the performance of Japanese referee Toi Tsutomu for the Badminton Asia Referee Accreditation,” said Steve in a statement to the press yesterday.

According to Steve, the Perlis Badminton Association was given the mandate to organise the tournament and performed extremely well despite it being their first outing in tournament organisation of an international junior open event.
