MDEC wins global ICT award for DTFZ
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC) has been named the winner of the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation’s (ASOCIO) Global Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Excellence Award for Digital Government, in particular the Digital-Free Trade Zone (DFTZ).
In a statement here yesterday, MDEC said, the award ceremony was held at the World Congress on Information Technology and ASOCIO ICT Summit in Taipei, Taiwan on Tuesday.
MDEC Vice President (Corporate Affairs), Razaleigh Zainal, said the DFTZ was one of the main initiatives that MDEC held to be of paramount importance for Malaysia and was the most visible of all its undertakings.
“The DFTZ, designed to take full advantage of electronic-commerce and borderless trade, can have a massive impact on the way business is done in Malaysia and position it as a significant trading nation,” he said.
Razaleigh said at the same event, MDEC was also recognised with a merit World Information Technology & Services Alliance (WITSA) Global ICT Excellence Award for Malaysia’s eUsahawan programme.
The eUsahawan, an engagement and education initiative, integrates a digital entrepreneurship curriculum into major technical vocational education and training institutions nationwide as well as micro-entrepreneurs via a short course format.
