Sabahan Vountus Indra Mawan new men’s doubles assistant coach

KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton Associatio­n of Malaysia (BAM) has appointed national former player Vountus Indra Mawan Saniru from Sabah as the new men’s doubles coach.

The 28-year-old’s appointmen­t was made to replace Jeremy Gan, who tendered his resignatio­n on Sept 30.

According to a statement yesterday, Vountus Indra Mawan’s appointmen­t would be effective from Oct 15, and he would act as assistant coach to men’s doubles head coach Cheah Soon Kit.

Vountus Indra Mawan who partnered Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif, was a bronze medallist in the men’s doubles at the 2007 Asian Junior Championsh­ips held in Kuala Lumpur.

He also helped the Malaysian mixed team to win the bronze at the 2015 Gwangju Universiad­e Games.

Vountus Indra who partnered Darren Isaac Devadass, won two titles at the Maribyrnon­g Internatio­nal and Auckland Internatio­nal in 2015. Bernama
