Disney withdraws ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ project

-

EXPECTED in theatres towards the end of 2020, animated film “Gigantic” — inspired by English folk tale Jack and the Beanstalk — is now back on the shelf.

It had staff from “Inside Out,” “Tangled” and “Frozen” attached, but Disney’s remake of the Jack and the Beanstalk is being put on hold for now.

“It’s impossible to know when we begin a project how the creative process will unfold, and sometimes, no matter how much we love an idea or how much heart goes into it, we find that it just isn’t working,” Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios president Ed Catmull told The Hollywood Reporter.

“With ‘Gigantic,’ we’ve come to that point, and although it’s a difficult decision, we are ending active development for now.”

Robert Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez, the songwriting duo from “Frozen,” had been signed up to contribute songs for “Gigantic,” which was to be directed by Nathan Greno (Rapunzel retelling “Tangled”) and “Inside Out” co-writer Meg LeFauve.

Instead of “Gigantic,” the studio is focusing on another project which is now being tabled for Thanksgiving 2020. “We’ll be sharing more about (it) soon,” Catmull said. Insiders told The Hollywood

Reporter that the new movie Catmull mentioned will be an original feature, but there are no other details at the moment.— Relaxnews
