KOTA KINABALU: Colleges and skills institutions in Sabah need to be alert and aware of the global education landscape to stay relevant.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said courses offered in these institutions needed to be updated, taking into account all the changes to meet the current needs and the future challenges.

“The rebranding of Kolej Teknikal Yayasan Sabah (KTYS) or Yayasan Sabah Technical College is right on time, to produce proficient human capital towards the Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50).

“I believe, efforts made by KTYS will contribute to the state education, technical and skills training,” he said in his speech during the 22nd KTYS Convocation ceremony yesterday.

His speech was read by Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.

Musa said Sabah was in need of young people with high knowledge and skills to develop the state into a higher level.

Yayasan Sabah, he said was set up to spur Sabahans’ education development.

“Yayasan Sabah provides scholarship, loan, student donation and many more. So with the facilities provided in this institution it will give more young Sabahans the opportunity to pursue their studies,” he added.

Present at the event was Yayasan Sabah director Datuk Sapawi Ahmad.
