AMV FC Kimanis thrash Sporting Kinabalu FC 9-1

-

KOTA KINABALU: AMV FC Kimanis notched a huge 9-1 win over Sporting Kinabalu FC to redeem themselves from a heavy defeat earlier at the Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan Cup Football League Tournament here, last week.

The Group A match saw Mohd Iqhbal emerge as the hero after he netted four goals including a first half hat-trick that put AMV 6-1 up at the break.

The other goals were scored by Mohd Fitri, Mohd Ashri and Md Farhan, while the consolation goal for Sporting Kinabalu was netted by Ilham Mat Kassim.

Iqhbal and Fitri scored again in the second half, which also saw Ridzuan Agus joining the list of goal scorers as AMV notched the biggest win in the tournament so far.

It was a meaningful win after AMV suffered an earlier 5-1 defeat to Racing Athletic FC KK in the opening week's fixtures, two weeks ago.

Racing managed to continue their winning ways to lead the Group A standings on six points. They edged Kapazan Real Junior 1-0.

Likas United FC 2 and AMV are both on three points but the former is higher in the standings by virtue of a better goal difference.

Barracuda FC Pensiangan also notched their second win when they beat Kapazan Real FC 4-1 to lead Group B on six points, while Adisson FC Kota Belud drew 2-2 with The Blues FC KK.

In Group C, Simfield FC KK edged Juta FC Keningau 1-0, while Terra Queen FC KK drew scoreless with Kee United FC Tawau.

Unida FC KK beat Mix Edu United Tuaran 4-1 in Group D, while Darau FC KK beat Kelab Reka DBKK, 2-1 in the Group E match.

All matches were played at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex synthetic field on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The top three teams from each group along with the best fourth place team will advance to the knock-out stage.

The competition continues with more fixtures this weekend.
