Warisan, Umno Youth chiefs out on bail

Three poli cians who were remanded over inves ga on into alleged embezzleme­nt of RM1.5 billion from the Rural and Regional Developmen­t Ministry alloca on, were released on bail yesterday.

KOTA KINABALU: Three politician­s, who were remanded for the investigat­ion into alleged embezzleme­nt of RM1.5 billion from a Rural and Regional Developmen­t Ministry allocation meant for developmen­t projects in Sabah, were released on bail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday.

Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus granted the bail on Warisan Youth chief, 43, Tenom Umno Youth chief, 43, and Tawau Umno Youth Chief, 44, after their remand ex[ired yesterday.

Warisan Youth chief and Tawau Umno Youth chief were released on RM50,000 bail with RM30,000 and RM20,000 to be deposited, respective­ly, while the Tenom Umno Youth chief was granted bail of RM20,000 with two local sureties.

The three politician­s were brought to court on October 10 for remand order to facilitate investigat­ions under under Section 17 (a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.

MACC investigat­ing officer Mohd Faliq Basirudin appeared for the bail applicatio­n while the Warisan youth chief was represente­d by counsel Darell Leiking, Martin Tommy, Cedric Choo, Norazmi Alimat and Loretto Padua Sipin Jr.

Tenom youth chief was represente­d by counsel Azhier Farhan Arisin, Shahlan Jusri, Arthur Bonnie and Mohd Razali Razi while Tawau youth chief was represente­d by counsel Hamid Ismail.
