The victims were from 26 villages as most of the roads to these villages are still under water.

Meanwhile, the temporary shelter at SMK Sri Nangka in Tuaran was reopened yesterday afternoon when seven families from Kampung Indai found that the flood had yet to subside in the area.

More than 300 people involving 73 families have been moved to two temporary shelters after their homes were inundated by water since October 20.

As of yesterday, while some of the victims have returned home after water subsided, there were still 31 families (119 people) being put up in SMK Sri Nangka and another 25 families (102 people) in Masjid Kampung Bunga, Tenghilan.

Tuaran member of parliament cum Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, who is currently abroad for an official duty, has mobilised his parliamentary service centre team led by private secretary, Jeffery Teo, to visit the affected areas and provide assistance.

The district disaster and relief operation room had, so far, received reports of 14 landslides, three collapsed houses and three houses with their roofs blown away by strong winds.

Yesterday, Tangau’s team visited affected areas in Tenghilan and Tamparuli to assess the damage and present emergency contributions to some of the victims.

In Penampang, 34 people who were affected by the landslide at Kampung Kolam Damai Minintod are still taking refuge at the Dewan Lembaga Sukan Penampang.
