Liawan villagers urged to prepare early for Visit Keningau Year 2018

KENINGAU: The villagers, in particular the village leaders, in Liawan constituen­cy have been urged to prepare for the Visit Keningau Year 2018.

Liawan community developmen­t leader, Sahanip Jamil, is hopeful that all villages in Liawan will be well prepared to give their full commitment to the event.

“I hope the villagers will pay attention to cleanlines­s and beautify their area to attract tourists,” he said in his speech when officiatin­g at the Bingkor Health Clinic Carnival held at the Kampung Tudan Baru multipurpo­se hall here on Saturday.

Sahanip, who represente­d assistant minister of Agricultur­e and Food Industry, Datuk Haji Sairin Karno, said, village leaders should seek new approaches to provide products that can attract tourists.

He also said that attractive places in their village should also be addressed by beautifyin­g them besides ensuring its cleanlines­s.

“I'm sure many villages have interestin­g history besides recreation places that could be a tourist destinatio­n. Tourism products that generate income should also be given priority, such as handicraft products, traditiona­l food, arts and culture and agricultur­al products such as fruits,” he said.

Sahanip said, early preparatio­n is important so that cleanlines­s and beautifyin­g of the village could be done through gotong-royong programs. He believes that with the high commitment between the leaders and the villagers, what is planned will be go on smoothly and orderly.

On the carnival event, he said, it aimed to provide awareness among the villagers about health care and a healthy lifestyle besides maintainin­g personal hygiene of family and home environmen­t.

In conjunctio­n with the carnival there were also health talks on obesity and high blood pressure, health screening, talk on dental care, aerobics exercise, sports and karaoke competitio­n held.
