KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Collge has developed from a school with an ‘atap' roof to one with a modern building that stands proud in the state.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said the students of Sabah College now are lucky to be able to get an education in such as conducive and comfortable place.

Speaking at the school's Diamond Jubilee charity dinner here on Saturday, Musa applauded the Sabah College's achievements both in curriculum and co-curriculum.

In his speech which was delivered by Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister cum State Education Exco Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, Musa said the students' academic results also reflects the school's improved performance from year to year.

“This is the same in the sports and cultural fields. Congratulations to the teachers for ensuring that Sabah College continues to excel. I hope this will continue as it is in line with the theme ‘Building Our Legacy',” Musa said.

According to him the development of an institution depends on the activeness of those administering it. The same goes to the cooperation given by the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) and the close relationship between parents and teachers which can produce successful students or human resource with quality.

At the same time, the good relationship between the school and local community such as former students, police, hospital and residents in the area can help the school to educate its students. This community is very important in assisting the development of students through the programs organised.

“We are responsible for all that happens to the younger generation who are valuable asset in deciding the direction of our nation's future development. Together, let us help the school in all aspects such as financially, materials and services to make the wish to see the school excel in all aspects.

“I am confident that with the cooperation from all parties, Sabah College will not only emerge among the best in this state but can also compete with elite schools throughout the country,” he said.
