KUALA LUMPUR: Many leaders in the corporate world and some of the top universities in the world are recommending that ‘O’ level students looking to pursue their foundation year, do not miss out on the University Consortium (NCUK) foundation year.

NCUK is an educational charity owned by eleven universities in the north of England which provides university preparation for international students for study outside of their home countries.

Northern Corridor Implementation Authority chief execuive Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak said the NCUK programme provided an insight into what the students will be facing and prepare them mentally to face the challenges of studying abroad.

“The endeavor is indeed a fruitful one, and the networking definitely stands us in good stead throughout our journey in life,” said Redza Rafiq, who is a NCUK graduate.

According to the University of Manchester which was ranked amongst the top 30 best universities in the world by QS World University rankings, the NCUK foundation programme was the best choice for those who wish to study a foundation programme in their own country, in order to save time and money.

In Malaysia, Fairview International School (FIS) Kuala Lumpur offers two pathways which are ‘O’ Level and the NCUK foundation year programme, and in Malaysia NCUK can only be done at FIS, said its principal Dr Vincent Chian. - Bernama
