-

GEORGE TOWN: “I hope my husband is found safe so that we can celebrate the birth of our first born together,” said Nuraini Rosanti Abdullah, 32, whose husband is believed to be one of the victims yet to be found in the landslide at Lengkok Lembah Permai, Tanjung Bungah here.

Nuraini Rosanti, who is three-month pregnant, said she and her Pakistani husband, Ali Raza Mohd Jamil, 23, were still rejoicing with the news of them becoming parents soon, but changed suddenly when she received news on the tragedy on Saturday.

“We met in Melaka early this year and got married last June,” she told Bernama when met outside the location of the tragedy here yesterday.

Nuraini, who is from Sulawesi, Indonesia, said she was informed of the news by her father, who is also residing here.

“Life suddenly turns bleak, but at the same time, I hope Allah saves my husband,” she said.

Eleven workers were buried in the landslide which occurred at a construction site of an affordable housing project in the area.

So far, seven bodies had been recovered.

Nuraini Rosanti said she was informed that the search and rescue operation was hampered due to the presence of many piling rods which had to cut first.

She described her husband as a caring and quiet person.

“He normally likes to eat the carp dish which I cooked for him, but the night before, he did not touch the dish and only ate crackers and then went to bed,” she said. - Bernama
