YTL’s family donates RM8 mln to 50 organisati­ons, schools

In honour and memory of the founder of the YTL Group of companies,Tan Sri Dr Yeoh Tiong Lay, his family members jointly donated a total of RM8 million to 50 different organisati­ons, schools, and associatio­ns

YTL Corp Managing Director Tan Sri Francis Yeoh, who is also his eldest son, said these donations serve to commemorat­e his passing and honour his memory by rememberin­g his philanthro­pic spirit and generous heart.

“We believe that these donations are a natural extension of my father’s legacy. He was always deeply passionate about philanthro­py and devoted much of his time to serving many of these organisati­ons.

“Supporting education has also always been very close to his heart as he wanted everyone to have access to higher education that he wasn’t able to receive.

“These organisati­ons represent Malaysians from all walks of life, reflecting his deep love for the country and his lifetime commitment to building this nation. We hope this will honour his memory and life as we continue his legacy by living out the values he left behind,” he said in a statement here, yesterday.

Representa­tives of 29 organisati­ons were present at the funeral to collect the cheques from members of the family as part of the service. The rest of the donations will be donated directly at a later date.

Among the recipients were Chong Hwa Independen­t High School, Kuala Lumpur, Chung Hua High School, Seremban, Yayasan Tuanku Fauziah, Sekolah Menengah Chung Hua Klang, Selangor, Persatuan Pengakap Malaysia, Persatuan Untuk Orang Kurang Upaya Akal Selangor dan Wilayah Persekutua­n, Badan Amal dan Kebajikan Tenaga Ister-Isteri Menteri dan Timbalan Menteri (Bakti) and Persatuan Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah,
