Best budget from Najib – Hajiji

KUDAT: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Hj Hajiji Hj Noor described the 2018 National Budget unveiled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Najib Tun Razak as the best since he became Finance Minister.

He said the budget took into considerat­ion all aspects, be it economic or social, and all strata of society, be it the old and the young including those yet unborn.

“The budget is for everyone, man and woman, the fisherman,the farmer, the rubber-tapper, everyone; thus it is befittingl­y called the Mother of All Budgets,” he quipped.

Hajiji, who is Sabah Umno treasurer, was speaking to reporters after officiatin­g at a Puteri Umno event at Tun Mustapha Hall here, Saturday. He was representi­ng Sabah Umno liaison chief Tan Sri Musa Aman who is also the Chief Minister.

Present were Malaysia Puteri Umno head Datuk Wira Hjh Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and Sabah Puteri Umno chief Puan Normalah Rasik.

Also present were Kudat Umno head Datuk Bolkiah Ismail and his deputy Datuk Abdul Mijul Hj Unaini.

Hajiji noted that a sum of RM2.2 billion has been allocated under the 2018 Budget to construct 17,300 PPR homes, 3,000 People-Friendly Homes under SPNB, and 210,000 PRIMA homes of RM250,000 and below to increase home ownership among the rakyat; adding that he hoped that as many as possible of these homes would be in Sabah.

The Local Government Minister also welcomes the announceme­nt by the Prime Minister that service by Local Authoritie­s (PBT) will not be subjected to GST next year.

Hajiji also thanked the Prime Minister for the recognitio­n given to the Ketua Kampung (village heads). He is the minister-in-charge of of Ketua Kampung and Native Chiefs in Sabah.
