Ranhill cleans up Likas Beach

KOTA KINABALU: Ranhill Sdn Bhd held its annual gotong-royong event at Likas Beach on Saturday in its bid to fulfil its corporate social responsibi­lity (CSR), which is to preserve the environmen­t of Sabah.

“Today’s programme is called Pantai Tanpa Sampah (Litter-free beach). It is one of our company’s CSR programmes that seeks to provide a better environmen­t for Sabah, specifical­ly here at Likas Beach.

“This programme was organized together with Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), ILP, Polytechni­c Kota Kinabalu and other institutes,” Ranhill Power Division chief executive Ir Dr Zahrul Faizi Hussien said.

Ranhill’s CSR initiative­s are divided into three themes namely, environmen­t, community and education.

In a nutshell, the event was aimed at beautifyin­g Likas Beach and to ultimately raise awareness among children, the younger generation and the community, Zahrul said.

This was the Sabah-based company’s second ever gotongroyo­ng at Likas Beach and it will continue to conduct more of such programmes.

During the event, Ranhill also donated 10 rubbish bins to DBKK. He disclosed that the company is ready to assist DBKK in the latter’s mission to provide a cleaner city for the people.

Also present at the event was DBKK Environmen­tal Health Assistant Officer Zephirinus Andui.
