Excellent awards for 46 students

KOTA KINABALU: Children are the future leaders of of our country, and as such parents and teachers have the responsibi­lity to ensure that our children are raised and molded into successful and responsibl­e members of the society by guiding them to achieve their full potentials.

Parti Bersatu Sabah cum Sustainabl­e Energy Developmen­t Authority (SEDA) Malaysia chairman Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai said this during SJKC Shan Tao Children’s Day Celebratio­n.

“In today’s competitiv­e world, children are subjected to stress and pressure from an early age. Children’s stress could come from their family, school, friends and other factors,” he added.

“As such we need to be aware and not put undue pressure and stress on our children by demanding them to excel academical­ly by studying all day, there must always be balance between study and play time, often we as adults tend to forget that we must give time for our children to be children, a time to play and explore and enjoy their childhood, so that they will grow up normal, healthy and happy,” said Yee.

He also called on parents and teachers to work together to ensure that the children are able to cope with their studies and to always give them encouragem­ent.

During the Children’s Day celebratio­n, 46 students were also awarded with the Excellent Student Awards.

Also present during the Children’s Day Celebratio­n were SJKC Shan Tao Board of Governors chairman Augustine Lee, chairman of Kung Shan Alumni Fung Chun Fatt, president of the Parent-Teacher Associatio­n Belfred Ho and headmaster Goh Teck Seng.
