KENINGAU: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup urged Neighbourhood Watch (KRT) in Mukim Dalit to continue to maintain unity among the villagers.

He said the gathering is an excellent platform for establishing relationships and exchanging views between leaders and the community.

“Villagers should reject racial issues raised by irresponsible parties to defraud communities that have been living in peace, prosperity and harmony,” he said when opening the KRT Mukim Dalit Family Day organized by the National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN ) at the SLDB hall in Kampung Dalit Gana in Sook here on Saturday.

Kurup, who is also Pensiangan Member of Parliament, said JPNIN through KRT will always help the community, especially youths and women to improve their skills so that they can become entrepreneurs in the future.

According to him, skills are very important to equip themselves with knowledge.

“The Barisan Nasional (BN) government will always assist the community by providing various forms of assistance and facilities.

“The 2018 budget tabled by Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak on Friday shows the government's concern for the people and is a comprehensive budget,” he said.

Kurup calls on the people to continue supporting the BN government which has brought many developments to society.

In the morning, villagers participated in sports competitions to foster unity among the communities.

Also present at the program were Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup, State JPNIN deputy director Anas Imran, state PBRS Youth chief Matusin Bowie and chairman of the organizing committee, Gunong Lamaran.
