Wozniacki ends Williams jinx to win WTA Finals
SINGAPORE: Former world number Caroline Wozniacki beat Venus Williams 6-4, 6-4 to win the biggest title of her career at the WTA Finals on Sunday.
The Dane, currently ranked sixth, broke Williams’ serve six times to seal victory in just under 90 minutes, throwing her racquet into the air in celebration as she secured the final point.
Wozniacki had never beaten Williams in seven previous meetings. Her win on Sunday prevented the 37-year-old, the tournament’s oldest-ever finalist, from regaining the trophy after a gap of nine years.
