KUDAT: Members of the Puteri Umno have been urged to help the party prepare its machinery in facing the 14th General Election (GE14) expected anytime now.

Saying that the forthcoming election is very important, Sabah Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Hj Hajji Hj Noor described it as “the mother of all elections”.

Hajiji who is also Local Government and Housing Minister, said this at a function where Puteri Umno Malaysia head Datuk Wira Mas Ermieyati Hj Samsudin met her Sabah members at the Dewan Tun Mustapha here yesterday.

He was representing Sabah Umno liaison chief Tan Sri Musa Hj Aman who is the Chief Minister.

Hajiji stated that ever since its formation, Puteri Umno has made valuable and meaningful contribution to the party.

“Among others, Puteri Umno has been a platform to bring many young women into the Umno fold and together fought for the cause of the party and Barisan Nasional.

“The movement has also been an avenue for young women to air their voice and aspirations to both the party and the government,” he added.

Hajiji who is also Tuaran Umno divisional chairman, stressed that with the changing political scenario and landscape in the country which has become more challenging, the role of Puteri Umno has become more important and hence they have to be more pro-active, creative and innovative so as to win the voters’ hearts, especially young women.

The Sabah BN treasurer pointed out that Puteri Umno members must therefore put emphasis on fully utilising the call center to reach as many voters as possible in their respective constituency; work hand-in-hand with both the Wanita and Umno Youth to ensure a more effective campaign; engage with all young women below 40, beginning with Puteri members themselves; reach and befriend all first-time voters; and get the party election machinery in top gear.

Present were Sabah Puteri Umno head Normala Rasik, Kudat Umno divisional head Datuk Bolkiah Hj Ismail who is Pitas assemblyman and his deputy Datuk Abdul Mijul Unaini who is Banggi assemblyman.
