2018 Budget is ‘doable’, says new Upko member

-

TAMPARULI: The 2018 Budget seems too good to be true but its underlying principle is seen on a daily basis in the Tuaran parliamentary constituency.

“I have been observing the services rendered, especially since the last general elections.

“It had been very clear a certain servanthood leadership, as they called it, is practised. I want to be part of the team,” said Lawrence Sinti.

He was asked to elaborate on his sharing after presenting his application form to join Upko acting president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau here on Sunday.

A former Umno member, Lawrence was among the 40 people who joined the Barisan Nasional at Ricky multi-purpose hall.

“I have been searching for a platform to serve the people and after studying the way our Barisan Nasional elected representatives for Tuaran work, I believe I can work together with him.

“I believe Upko is the right platform for me to assist the people and fight for what is due for the State”, he said, adding “some say the Budget 2018 is too good to be true but the details show it is doable.”

Lawrence is the younger brother of Star Kiulu chief Terrence Sinti.

Tangau, who often said he was guided by a principle centred on servanthood leadership since being given the task in 2014, later expressed his gratitude for the support shown to him as highlighted by the non-stop applications to join Upko.

“Today we received more than 40 people. Such gestures do give Upko a feel good atmosphere much like the Budget 2018. The long and short of it, we are here to ensure tomorrow is better than today. That is the philosophy of the Budget, such is also the Upko struggle.

“We are on the right track, otherwise people like Lawrence will not be willing to be associated with us. Yes, the BN is not perfect, neither does Upko but we seek to continually be the best. And the people not only see it but more importantly they also feel it,” added Tangau.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation also urged the people to be wary of the hatred campaign employed by opposition parties “which is not unlike their alternative budget; you know, an empty can makes loud noise.”

At the same event, Tangau launched the Bukit Perahu branch under Upko Tamparuli CLC.
