-

KOTA KINABALU: Junior Chamber International Intan (JCI Intan) recently organised a beneficial business visit to Kuai Rabbit Garden located at KuaiKandazon area in Penampang.

Among the activities held during this fun and informative visit included lessons on how to make organic compost, and how to make basic home-gardening.

Over 20 JCI Intan members and public participants had an opportunity to plant their own vegetable seeds using the organic compost, and using recyclable materials one can easily find in their home.

The Kuai Rabbit Garden also boasts a diverse array of plants and herbs which are grown around the compound, and access to see farm animals such as rabbits, chickens and geese.

Noel Seanundu Kely Jitilon whose family owns Kuai Rabbit Farm, is also part of the local NGO C.L.E.A.R (Communityled Enviromental Awareness for our River). He also conducted a sharing on the awareness of river protection issues and the solutions in maintaining the cleanliness of rivers, and presented a demonstration to the participants on how a river water quality test is done.

Organising chairlady Majoree M. Muis hopes that activities such as these can encourage individuals to venture into home gardening, and also be more environmental conscious of the issues in the community and play a proactive part in finding sustainable solutions to these problems.

Junior Chamber International Intan (JCI Intan) is one of the 60 local organisations in JCI Malaysia which is based in Kota Kinabalu.
