Call to support LDP in fight to restore rights

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Goldsmith Association president Datuk Alexander Lo Su Hye has urged Sabahans to fully support the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in their bid to increase the representation of local-based party in the State government.

He said the people’s support would lend more strength to LDP representatives in the government system to fight for the restoration of Sabah rights and provisions under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Lo said supporting the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and other opposition parties would not benefit the Chinese community at all, nor would it help in restoring Sabah rights.

“The Sabah Rights Review Committee chaired by LDP president cum Minister of Special Tasks, Datuk Seri Panglima Teo Chee Kang, is beginning to yield some positive results.

“Thanks to the effort of the committee, the Federal Finance Ministry has issued a letter to the State government to reactivate the review on the special grant for Sabah.”

Lo said the review process would take time but the work was ongoing.

“The committee is also studying other areas pertaining to Sabah rights to be brought up to the Federal Government. The committee requires the strong support of Sabahans,” he said

Lo added that he concurred with Teo’s statement that ‘Sabah does not need a new deal’ because the State would have enjoyed autonomy if and when the provisions stipulated in the MA63 were restored.

He said the Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition had resorted to making all sorts of exaggerated promises to fish for votes.

“Sabah PH would not be able to fulfill their promises because they are disunited.”

Hence, Lo urged Sabahan voters not to be fooled by PH but instead, support LDP and the Sabah Rights Review Committee led by Teo in their mission to negotiate for the restoration of Sabah rights with the Federal government.
