Hiew quitting DAP good for Luyang development – aide

-

KOTA KINABALU: Luyang assemblyman Datuk Hiew King Cheu has made the right decision to leave DAP and join MCA, said his aide, Edward Ewol Mujie.

Mujie said the move by Hiew to resign from DAP was good for him and the people of Luyang.

If he had continued as a DAP representative, it would surely not benefit and the people of Luyang would not be blessed with RM5 million worth of allocations from the government for small development and community fund.

He stated this in response to the call by DAP Sabah publicity secretary Phoong Jin Zhe that DAP elected representatives who left the party, fulfill the pledge which they made in the last election to pay RM5 million to the people.

“The people can see that Hiew has served the Luyang folks consistently since leaving DAP. Hiew is seen to have kept his promise. In the past four and a half years he has succeeded to improve the well-being and development in Luyang. It may not have been possible for him to achieve this had he stayed in the opposition.

“Phoong should, perhaps, reluctantly admit that there have been many improvements and changes brought in by Hiew in Luyang. For example, the planting of one thousand flowers trees, new foot-paths, walkways at shop fronts, jogging tracks, parking lots for schools and the Luyang clinic, distribution of rubbish bins, water tanks and so on.

There have been more than 300 small jobs carried out so far,” Mujie said.

Compared to DAP Kota Kinabalu member of parliament Jimmy Wong, who is nowhere to be found, especially with his office situated in the Penampang district, has he helped the people who elected him in the Kota Kinabalu constituency? He asked.

Mujie said after using some dirty tactics to force Hiew out of DAP, today we see DAP still trying to inflict more damage on him.

“Jimmy Wong and his teammates similarly faced the same dirty tactics and was kicked out by his own members during their last party election with the lowest votes,” Mujie revealed.

According to Mujie, Hiew is a hardworking man, he does not talk a lot, but he delivers to the needs of the people. Phoong seems to have forgotten that DAP was re-built by Hiew and me during those hard days.

“We traveled the length and breadth of Sabah and built up the party from scratch until there were elected members.

“Hiew was elected in 2008 as KK MP and in 2013 as the Luyang assemblyman, all due to his efforts and hard work,” he said.

But Phoong said it was only because of DAP that Hiew could become an elected representative.

“I want to ask him to look at the past history of DAP in Sabah. It is a fact that without Hiew, there won’t be a DAP in Sabah. Now you talk big and hammer Hiew left, right and centre. This is a true demonstration of your ungratefulness.

“I can still recall during the last general election, when Hiew arranged all the ceramahs for the DAP candidates. They just came to speak and let Hiew do all the donkey work without even lending a helping hand. After doing all that for them, they just turned around and forced Hiew out,” he said

“With Phoong repeatedly hitting on Hiew, but none so far on the other two elected DAP representatives who had left the party to join other parties, and not calling for any signatory campaign to condemn them and to ask for their resignation as elected representatives, this is a strong affirmation that DAP is practising double standards as always,” he added.
