KOTA KINABALU: Shang Palace at Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa recently walked home with the prestigious culinary accolade, the Dato Lau Foo Sun’s Excellence in Dining Award 2016/2017 by La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, held in Kuala Lumpur.

The highly-acclaimed ‘Dato Lau Foo Sun’s Excellence in Dining Award’ is named after the late founder of the Malaysia Bailliage of the elite international gastronomy association, La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.

With nearly 25,000 members, the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is established in over 80 countries to bring together enthusiasts who share the same values of quality, fine dining, the encouragement of the culinary arts and the pleasures of the table.

The association aims to bring together amateurs and professionals, from all over the world, whether they are hoteliers, restaurateurs, executive chefs or sommeliers, in the appreciation of fine cuisine.

Judging was based on several criterias from pre-dinner experience, menu, presentation of food and wines, venue, setting, ambience and the overall dining experience.

The award presents an opportunity for public recognition of the accomplishment.

“It is extremely encouraging for us to receive this award. The hard work contributed by each staff member of our organisation is the very reason why Shang Palace is recognised with this award today,” said Gavin Weightman, general manager of Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa.
