Community Football League kicks off round 2 qualifiers

-

KOTA KINABALU: The second round group fixtures of the Sabah Zone Community Football League 2017-2018 qualifiers will resume today.

Four matches will be played at various venues as the race for the play-off berths heats up with two rounds of matches left to play.

The fact that almost all the participating teams in four groups are still in for the chance to progress makes the competition even more exciting.

With only the winners in each of the three-team group getting into the Sabah Zone play-off, the teams cannot afford to slip up, especially in their penultimate group fixtures.

In Group A, leaders Tawau will play away to Lahad Datu at the district sports complex and a win would put them four points closer to the play-off. The other team in the group are Semporna.

Sandakan, who are currently at the bottom of Group B, face a must-win game against visiting side Kota Marudu.

A victory at the Sandakan Sports Complex would see the hosts go level on four points with current leaders Kinabatangan. However, Kinabatangan still have a game in hand after the fixtures today.

In Group C, joint leaders Beaufort and Kota Kinabalu will face off at the Beaufort Sports Complex where the winners will claim the top spot for themselves.

After two matches played, all three teams in Group C including Labuan are levelled on two points. KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia continued their poor run at the 2017 World Bowling Championships in Las Vegas, United States after failing to advance to the semi-finals in the men’s doubles event, late Monday.

Japanese pair Takuya MiyazawaShota Kouki were at the top of the standings in the preliminary round with 2,638 pinfalls, followed by American pair, Chris BarnesTommy Jones (2,631). - Bernama

It was almost a similar case in Group D where Tuaran led only by virtue of superior goals difference against Keningau and Kota Belud, who all registered three points.

Kota Belud will have the home advantage today when they take on Tuaran at the district sport complex.

All the matches will kick off at 3:45pm.
