Human resource training for construction players

-

KO TA K I NA BA LU: Sabah has witnessed rapid construction activities in both high-rise buildings and infrastructure development in the past years. The multi-billion ringgit Pan Borneo Highway forms the main driving force in creating job opportunities for the construction industry.

The over reliance on foreign workers has always been a major concern for the construction players. New construction technologies relying on less manpower have been brought into Sabah, such as Industrialized Building System (IBS) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to improve the construction efficiency and quality assurance and quality control (QA & QC).

Training the local youth to replace the foreigner workers will be the main focus for the construction industry.

The Sabah Builders Association (SBA) and Builders Emporium Sdn Bhd (BESB) jointly pledged to collaborate on the youth training programme when the latter paid the former a courtesy call last Saturday.

Present in the discussion were SBA president Ir Lou Chi Nam, deputy president Henry Tsen, Chui Swee Kong, Andrew Kwok and BESB managing director Jeffrey Ng Kok Soon, operation manager Ho Sen Kiong and Chan Ah Kuan.

In conjunction with the Builder’s Best Deals Roadshow 2017 and to broaden the knowledge of all those involved in the contruction industry, the following seminars will be organized at Builders Emporium Sdn Bhd Lot S-6, Beverly Hill Industrial Park: Adoption of IBS in Malaysia Construction Industry and Achieving IBS with fiber cement solution on December 1; Good painting practice and painting system on different substrate and concrete repair and wet room system on December 2 and Sikalastic 632R pocket seminar on December 3.

All the construction players are encouraged to participate.
